Kellogg Fellow awarded honorary Doctor of Letters degree

Kellogg Fellow and former editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, John Simpson, OBE, received an honorary degree from the University of Leicester on Friday 23 January.

The former Chief Editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, widely regarded as the accepted authority on the English language, was honoured at the University of Leicester’s Degree Ceremonies.

Mr John Simpson, OBE, who retired as editor of the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013, received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree. His family has been connected to the University of Leicester since its foundation when his grandfather’s cousin, Harry Simpson Gee, became one of the University’s original benefactors.
