Rewarding excellence with Professorships for Kellogg

18 July 2016

We are pleased to announce that Fellow Alis Oancea and Research Member of Common Room Lisa White have been awarded the title of ‘Professor’ in the latest ‘Recognition of Distinction’ exercise.

Professor Oancea’s work on educational structures such as the Research Excellence Framework, funding and knowledge exchange and impact mechanisms have been particularly influential. Her overarching research interest is in research policy and governance in education. Alis is the new Director of Research at the Department of Education. She is also Pro-Proctor at the University of Oxford and has contributed to many national and international roles, including as Lead Editor of ‘Research Intelligence’, Co-Editor of the journal ‘Review of Education’ and trustee of the British Educational Research Association.

On receiving her Professorial title, Alis told us: ‘I am delighted at the news and grateful to the colleagues and students who have been, and continue to be, part of my academic learning journey. I look forward to continuing to learn and to working with colleagues at Kellogg College and also in my new role as Director of Research at the Oxford University Department of Education, from next term’

Lisa White is head of the University of Oxford’s mathematical and economic modelling (MAEMOD) group based in Thailand at the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit, whose research focus is on tropical infections and primarily malaria. MAEMOD coordinates an international network of infectious disease modellers and modelling research beneficiaries working in the Tropics.
