The Raj at War

Kellogg Fellow Yasmin Khan has published a book presenting the hidden and sometimes overlooked history of India at war.

In a review for the Daily Telegraph Juliet Nicolson writes, “Exceptional… balances analysis, history and human compassion in a narrative that leaves one shaken… Khan shows how the vibrancy of that great continent in all its intense colour, diversity and ebullience was washed with the grey pallor of despair… [a] magnificent, time-resistant reliquary for evanescent memory”.

The Raj At War: A People’s History Of India’s Second World War provides a comprehensive account of India’s turbulent home front during the Second World War and the nexus between warfare and India’s society.
