Oxford Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME)

Cristian is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Biomedical Signal Processing & m-Health group, led by Professor Lionel Tarassenko at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME). He has a background in Computer Science (M.Sc.) and Broadband Networks (M.Sc.), with a specialisation in scheduling algorithms applied to wireless vehicular networks (Ph.D.). His research focuses on the development of algorithms and systems for automatic decision making, applied in the areas of chronic disease management and embedded systems. He currently works with Professor Richard McManus and Dr. Carmelo Velardo in an interdisciplinary research project between Medical Sciences and Engineering aimed at the development of algorithms and systems for management of hypertension in primary care tailored to the needs of stroke survivors. The self-monitoring systems incorporate the use of mobile apps, autonomous decision making and machine learning.
