Lloyd is interested in machine learning and its application to high dimensional data in neuroscience and genetics. The purpose of his research is to find connections between the human genome and brain imaging phenotypes, such as patterns of functional connectivity. This work constitutes a new paradigm in neuroscience and provides a new way to study heritable mental illnesses such as depression. His background is in pure mathematics and statistics.
