Dr Peggy McCready joined the University of Oxford in December 2015 as the Director of Academic IT Services. Peggy brings with her a depth of experience in developing and implementing first-class systems and services to advance the use of technology in higher education for students, academics and administrators. Her particular areas of interest include technology-enhanced teaching and learning, the design of learning spaces and the classroom experience, and the use of advanced computing to support research.

Peggy has worked in a number of research-led universities in the USA including New York University, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and Temple University. She has a Doctorate of Education from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Humanities from Pennsylvania State University. Peggy’s doctoral research looked at how three distinct universities, with a focus on research and teaching, have influenced the evolution of technology-enhanced teaching and learning practices.
