The job of Café Assistant offers an exciting opportunity to not only help deliver excellent food and beverage services, but also to shape our service delivery and continually adapt and evolve to offer an exceptional commercial offering.

An interesting and varied role, duties will include providing the highest standards of service across a wide range of food and beverage products, as well as supporting the Café Manager in preparing fresh food and drinks, and ensuring that service and seating areas are maintained to the required standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

This is a busy, customer-facing post, and it is therefore essential that you have excellent verbal communication skills, and a naturally friendly and helpful nature. You should also be hands-on in approach, with the ability to manage a varied workload under minimal supervision and a willingness to work flexibly as part of the wider team. Experience in a similar food-service role is essential, the ability to prepare freshly cooked dishes from scratch is desirable, if you have worked as a barista then this would be advantageous, but training will be given if you have not.

There may also be opportunities to further enhance catering skills by working with our main kitchen.

Two posts are available, regular hours of work will be 9.00 – 1.00 or 11.30 – 5.30 Monday to Friday with some flexibility for occasional weekend work required (please specify which you are applying for).

In addition to salary, the College offers a range of benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, contributory pension scheme, and a free meal whilst on duty.
