Alumni Weekend Event: Hunting Down the Harms in Healthcare with Carl Heneghan

Whether its drugs that have been withdrawn, devices that have gone badly wrong or tests that have caused congenital harms, researchers at the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine will chase down and expose the truth.

For this talk, Dr Jeff Aronson and Professor Carl Heneghan will take you on a journey that explores their research into drugs and devices that have gone badly wrong. Their work on Hormone pregnancy tests has been the subject of Parliamentary debates; Professor Heneghan’ s research into device failings was seminal to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists Implant Files, and their work on surgical mesh has seen recent bans in the USA but led to confusion in the UK.
