Modern Belgian Beers – Tasting and talk with Bart Verhaeghe

Kellogg members are invited to a tasting and talk with Bart Verhaeghe of Belgian Beer Import Ltd

Bart will handpick 6-7 Belgian craft beers brewed by relatively new breweries, who started out small and are now known for beers brewed in small batches for maximum flavour.

Participants can expect to drink around two pints of beer in total (all beers served in smaller, tasting sizes). Beers will range from Trappist, Abbey, Gueze/lambic and other beer types, subject to availability.

This is a relaxed, informal and interactive event, with nibbles (included in the cost) provided during the tasting.

About Bart Verhaeghe:

Bart, as a Belgian citizen and outspoken beer and food officionado, has very good knowledge of the Belgian Beer Culture and has very good connections with the World of Belgian brewing. His academic qualifications (Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences) and corporate background (head of odour, flavour, perfume laboratories at Procter and Gamble) provide Bart with a profound understanding of beer brewing, fermentation processes, odour and flavour profiling for food pairing.

Bart is owner and MD of Belgian Beer Import Ltd. The company focuses on the import and distribution of niche Belgian Beers from infamous breweries like Fantome, Verhaeghe, St Bernardus, Alvinne, ‘t Gaverhopke, St Monon and many more in to the UK. He introduced most of these microbrewery beers into to the UK for the very first time. Many years ago he used to run Belgian Beer stall at Oxford’s main beer festivals.

Bart joined forces with Cave Direct Beer Merchants in 2011. He has mainly focused on sales and new account development outside the London M25 circular resulting in about 200 new customers in Brighton, Oxford, Cambridge, Portsmouth, Southampton, Reading…
