The Role 

Kellogg College is the University’s most international graduate college and has a unique mix of students. It is the University’s leading college for students reading for degrees on a part-time basis and has a strong and vibrant body of full-time students.

This is an opportunity to become part of the Kellogg College community as a Research Member of Common Room. This opportunity is available for postdoctoral researchers (and those of more senior status) who are employed by the University but do not have a college attachment. Some Research Members of Common Room have gone on to become Junior Research Fellows at Kellogg College.

Successful applicants will be those intending to make an active contribution to the academic and social life and development of Kellogg College. Research Members of Common Room will be expected to act as a College Adviser to support and guide Kellogg College students during their studies. Training for this role will be provided, and all will be required to attend.

Research Membership of Common Room brings with it the opportunity to use College facilities, to enjoy subsidised College lunches and dinners, and to participate in a diverse and growing range of college seminars and social events.

Application is by curriculum vitae, with a cover letter explaining why you would like to be considered for Research Membership of Common Room at Kellogg College and how you would contribute to the Kellogg community. You should be currently employed in a research capacity within the collegiate University and ask a senior colleague to provide a short reference. Membership is renewable annually, coterminous with holding a (paid) research post in the University.

Requirements

A meeting outlining the role of College Advisor will be provided for successful applicants at the beginning of Michaelmas Term 2026.

If you are successful your membership is subject to the provision of original documentation to establish your right to work and remain in the UK, which the collegiate University requires to comply with its duties under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.

The Department of Engineering Science intends to appoint an Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Chemical Engineering and Engineering Biology) from 1 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will work at the Department of Engineering Science (Begbroke Science Park, OX5 1PF) and will be offered a Non-Tutorial Fellowship at Kellogg College under arrangements described in the Job Description. The combined University and College salary will be on a scale currently from £58,265 p.a. to £77,645 per annum plus additional benefits (see the Job Description for full details).

The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age. This post is part of the new strategic research programme Oxford EARTH (Equitable Access to sustainable Resources for a Thriving Habitat, further details in the job description).

The post will strengthen Departmental Chemical Engineering research by addressing key challenges in resource production, recovery, and circularization. Applications focused on research into sustainable separation, refinement, and recycling methods for critical metals and rare earths, bioprocessing and engineered biological applications in resources, or on hydrogen production, are particularly welcome.

An educational or professional background in Chemical Engineering is essential for delivering undergraduate teaching aspects of the role, as well as a doctorate in Chemical Engineering or a cognate discipline, such as Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, or Engineering Biology. Applicants will be expected to augment existing Departmental capabilities with novel and complementary research activity. Once in post, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for and obtain external funding to develop and sustain an independent research programme, as well as to form links within the Department of Engineering Science, with other departments across the University of Oxford, and elsewhere.

The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the teaching of undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering Science, which may include lectures, taught classes, practical laboratories, and the supervision of undergraduate design and project work. They will also provide guidance on academic progress and wellbeing to students in Kellogg College, where they will play a role in the governance of the college. They will also be expected to contribute to the department’s research portfolio in Chemical or Biochemical engineering, obtaining external funding to enable development of a new and independent research program.

You will complete a Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship and you will gain Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard qualification. You will be working with the Kitchen team that currently comprises of the Executive Head Chef, three Sous Chefs, two Junior Sous Chefs, two Demi Chef de Parties and three Kitchen Porters.

What We’re Looking For

You will work as an Apprentice Chef. The Role

The Event Booking and Systems Support Officer will focus on major bookable events, such as guest night dinners, garden party, foundation and select other high-profile events and supports other event operations run by the Events and Conference team. This is a part time role, 20 hours per week on an annualised hours basis.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Event Bookings and Systems Support Officer with:

  • Excellent communication, organisation and customer service skills
  • Experience of working with database/customer service skills
  • Excellent IT Skills, particularly with Excel and Word

The Role

The Head Waiter will involve ensuring the provision of the highest standards of service across a wide range of food and beverage products, whilst maintaining a service environment that is professional and welcoming.

The Role

As a key member of the Café team, you will:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of food and drinks.
  • Welcome and respond to queries from a diverse community of college members, students and visitors.
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and allergen standards, keeping our spaces clean and inviting at all times.
  • Replenish stock and help keep the café running smoothly day-to-day.
  • Support colleagues by opening or closing the Café, handling transactions and providing support to other members of the team when required.

This is a varied and hands on role, perfect for someone who enjoys a lively environment and takes pride in delivering great service.

This is a variable hours’, permanent role, with some evening and weekend work to support the needs of the College. Your hours will be worked on an as required basis, meaning you will have no regular pattern of hours.

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of providing great customer service and a genuine desire to make people feel welcome
  • Experience in preparing food (such as sandwiches and soups), with an understanding of food safety and hygiene allergen regulations
  • Level 1 Food Safety Qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • The ability to stay calm during busy periods, work flexibly, and use your initiative – both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

The Role

Junior Deans are supervised by, and report to, the Welfare Dean and Academic Registrar. Individuals may serve more than once as Junior Dean.

The Junior Deans play a vital role within Kellogg’s scholarly community, assisting the Welfare Dean, The Dean, the Academic Registrar, the Domestic Bursar, the Head of Facilities Management, the Accommodation Manager, and other College Officers in ensuring the smooth running of the College. Junior Deans are usually called upon the most at the start of the academic year, and at the beginning and end of each term.
