Community Week 2025: A celebration of college spirit and collective generosity
June marks the return of Kellogg College’s annual Community Week, with a vibrant programme of events to bring our community members together in a collective spirit of generosity to support Giving Day.
This year our activities include a celebration of student talent, friendly lawn games, a sporting challenge, a mascot naming ceremony, and a grand finale with our College Summer Party. Read on to find out more…
Monday 9 June
The week launches on Monday 9 June with the theatrical debut of The Oxford Players, Kellogg’s resident student troupe. Taking to the stage at 7:00pm in The Hub, their premiere production, Stories That Changed the World, presents five short plays spanning genres from period drama to contemporary comedy. The event will conclude with a drinks reception, providing an opportunity for guests to meet the cast and celebrate the creativity of the Kellogg community.
Wednesday 11 June
Later in the week, the start of the Giving Day Cycling Challenge will run from 10.30am on Wednesday 11 June to 3.00pm on Thursday 12 June, in The Hub. This 28-hour endurance event invites students, staff and fellows to join together to reach a collective goal of 150km cycled on spin bikes. The challenge aims to unlock £2,000 in matched donations for Kellogg. All abilities are welcome, and every kilometre brings the College closer to our Giving Day goal. There is no registration needed for this, simply turn up and prepare to put the miles in!
On Wednesday afternoon from 3.30pm to 5.00pm, the MCR invites the community to a relaxed event featuring tea, cakes, lawn games, and a shared space to reflect and connect. The centrepiece will be the naming ceremony for Kellogg’s new official teddy bear mascot, with the reveal scheduled for 4.30pm. College members are encouraged to submit name suggestions in advance via an MS Form link circulated through the student newsletter. The top eight shortlisted names will be voted on during the event.
Thursday 12 June
Towards the end of the week, the College is hosting a special Giving Day Guest Night Dinner on Thursday 12 June. Professor Sandie Byrne, Senior Tutor and Chamberlain for the evening, will offer remarks celebrating the importance of giving within the Kellogg community.
Saturday 14 June
The week concludes with the Summer Garden Party on Saturday 14 June from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Held in the College gardens, the family-friendly celebration includes a BBQ buffet, live music, face painting, and balloon artistry. It’s a fitting finale for a week centred on connection, creativity and College pride.
Community Week is a highlight of the Kellogg calendar, bringing together students, staff, fellows and friends to celebrate what makes the College unique. All members of the Kellogg community are warmly encouraged to attend, participate, and share in the spirit of the week.
