Daniel Hawkins Iddrisu appointed Early Career Representative for UKFIET

November 18, 2024

Daniel Hawkins Iddrisu, a DPhil student at Kellogg College, has been elected as the Early Career Representative on the Executive Committee of the United Kingdom Forum for International Education and Training (UKFIET).

Daniel is currently pursuing a DPhil in Education (International and Comparative Education) at the University of Oxford. UKFIET is dedicated to promoting international education and development for all, fostering the growth of teaching and training initiatives. Through conferences, seminars, and other events, the forum aims to facilitate the exchange of educational ideas, knowledge, and expertise among members and the broader community, both within the UK and internationally.

In his role as Early Career Representative, Daniel will support the UKFIET committee by providing insights from an early career perspective, helping to build a network of Early Career Professionals who can contribute to and benefit from UKFIET’s initiatives. He will also engage with stakeholders from research institutions, NGOs, and programme implementation bodies to advance the forum’s goals.

Daniel’s appointment is a two-year term of office. As a committee member, his role will be to provide suggestions for early career professionals’ involvement and activities in UKFIET. He told us that his goal was to broaden awareness of UKFIET and support the development of a network and events for early career professionals.

We asked Daniel what he hopes to achieve in the role:

I aim to make an impact in the field of education and international development. I want to create a sustainable platform to support early career researchers and professionals through networking, mentorship, skills-building opportunities, provisions of resources, and advocacy for the voices of early career researchers whose voices otherwise would not be heard in the UKFIET committee and the field of international education and development.

We wish Daniel the best of luck with his future endeavours for the committee and his studies.
