Kellogg appoints Hilary Campbell as its first Director of Choral Music

January 24, 2025

Hilary Campbell’s appointment as the inaugural Director of Choral Music marks a new chapter in the history of Kellogg College.

Hilary will lead the formation of Kellogg’s first choir – a group designed to reflect the college’s diverse and contemporary identity. Rather than emulating the traditional Oxford chapel choirs, Kellogg’s new ensemble will focus on creating a secular choir that embodies the inclusive and modern spirit of the college.

Hilary Campbell is a British choral conductor based in London. She serves as Associate Conductor of Ex Cathedra. Her extensive guest conducting includes leading and preparing ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Chorus, which she prepared for a performance of Mozart’s Mass in C Minor at the Proms, as well as The BBC Singers, Trinity Laban Chamber Choir, the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Chorus, BBC Radio 4’s Daily Service Singers, the University of Greenwich Choir, and the Fourth Choir.

Additionally, Campbell is the Musical Director and Founder of the professional chamber choir Blossom Street. She also holds the position of Musical Director with Bristol Choral Society, West London Chorus, and West London Chamber Choir. Hilary hosts collaborative projects with Master of the Queen’s Music Judith Weir at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM), working alongside Blossom Street and the RAM composition department.
