Korea Day at Kellogg – celebrating global talent, digital futures and cultural exchange
To mark the successful completion of the inaugural Global Cybersecurity Talent Development Programme at Kellogg, we are delighted to host a special Korea Day, open to all College members and the wider public.
Taking place on the afternoon of Tuesday 3 February, the event celebrates student achievement while highlighting Korea’s leadership in digital culture, technology, and creativity.
Organised in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centre UK, the event brings together distinguished speakers from academia and the cultural sector to explore and showcase how Korea is shaping global conversations at the intersection of creativity, security and technology.
Programme
- Born digital: Korean web novels and the new aesthetics of creative writing
Dr Seunghye Sun FRSA, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre UK, discusses the global impact of Korean web novels as a born‑digital literary form. - Cyber defence culture in Korea – defending the K‑digital border
Professor Jiwon Yoon, School of Cybersecurity and Department of Cyber Defence at Korea University and Visiting Fellow at Kellogg College, examines how South Korea protects its advanced digital ecosystem against persistent cyber threats. - Gugak in the epoch of artificial intelligence
Yoonseo Jung, Project Manager at the Korean Cultural Centre UK, explores whether generative AI can – or should – take on creative roles traditionally held by artists, focusing on its use in composing Gugak, Korea’s traditional music.
The academic programme will be followed by a private reception for Global Cybersecurity Talent Development Programme participants, providing an opportunity for them to celebrate their achievements and reflect on their learning together.
Korea Day is both a celebration and an invitation – celebrating the achievements of Global Talent Cybersecurity Programme participants, and inviting the wider community to engage with Korean culture, ideas and innovation. It also builds momentum towards a forthcoming high-level College event with the Ban Ki Moon Foundation in Seoul this April, reinforcing Kellogg’s commitment to international collaboration and its identity as a welcoming, outward‑looking college.
