League success for Kellogg MCR FC

Congratulations to our Kellogg MCR Football team who, on Saturday 26 February 2022 won their league and secured promotion to Division 2!

Saturday’s match saw a convincing 6-1 win over the Greek Society, which meant Kellogg MCR FC completed their six league games with six wins, and a 33:3 goal ratio.

Team Captain and goal keeper, Jonas Schöne wrote the following match report:

“In the last league game of the season, Kellogg showed why they are the legitimate champions of the league. Facing the so far unbeaten Greek Society, Kellogg were dominant from the start. It only took around 10 minutes until Ryan danced around multiple defenders before slamming the ball into the back of the net. After 20 minutes Will delivered a fantastic ball into the box, where Abdalla did what he usually does to score the second.  Following an array of questionable foul decisions by the referee, the Greek Society received a penalty, bringing them back into the game and making it 2-1.

There was an energetic start to the second half, and absolute beauty of a goal by Jamie, nutmegging two people in the process, for 3-1. Their spirit was now broken, and Jack scored the 4th from a brilliant corner delivery by Jamie. The 5th was soon to follow, again by Jamie. A penalty, driven home by Jack, marked the endpoint of the game, and a convincing 6-1 win.

This was a brilliant showing but we still have the Cuppers semi- and final ahead of us!”

Although a comprehensive win, it was still a hard-fought match, as can be seen from the photos below.
