Dr Yikai Yang
Fellow, Junior Research Fellow
Royal Society Newton International Fellow
Department of Engineering Science
PhD (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland); MSc (University of Alberta, Canada); BSc (Lanzhou University, China)
Dr. Yikai Yang completed his undergraduate education in theoretical physics at Lanzhou University in China. He then enrolled in a Master’s program at the University of Alberta in Canada with an experimental research focused on unconventional superconductors. Upon graduation, he temporarily left academia and worked in the industry for four years before returning to pursue a PhD at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, where he conducted research on quantum criticality in an Ising compound in the presence of a strong hyperfine interaction. Dr. Yang currently holds a Newton International Fellow from the Royal Society, his research focus is on the materialisation of a quantum engine for the first time. His other research interests include quantum criticality, quantum magnetism, and unconventional superconductivity.
