Dr Ben Attwood is a Consultant in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia, and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is Senior Responsible Owner for the Thames Valley and Sussex Secure Data Environment and oversees this ambitious programme comprising data from over 5 million patients across health and care settings. He works with academic and commercial partners in developing novel approaches to translational research and clinical applications, utilising AI and other modalities that aid diagnosis, treatment and outcomes.
He has previously been awarded a Clinical Trials Scholarship by a NIHR Clinical Research Network and is an Honorary Researcher at the University of Warwick. He has been local Principal Investigator for many ICU trials and is a member of Data Monitoring and Trial Steering Committees for international critical care studies. He has been a Chief Clinical Informatics Officer and Associate Medical Director for Technology and Transformation, leading evaluation, procurement and deployment processes for several large scale clinical applications at System level.
