Dr Jonathan Cook

MD (Queen’s University, Canada); BSc (hons) & PhD (University of Toronto, Canada)

Jonathan completed his primary medical qualification in 2021 at Queen’s University in Canada and is pursuing specialist training in Medical Microbiology at the University of Toronto in the Clinician Investigator Program. He earned his PhD under the supervision of Professor Jeffrey Lee investigating the role of viral entry glycoproteins in immune evasion. His graduate work was funded through the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships programme and he was awarded the Stuart Alan Hoffman Memorial Prize. Jonathan is a Banting Fellow at the Jenner Institute where his research focuses on the rational design and implementation of new vaccines for the world’s most challenging pathogens.

His research interests include malaria eradication, emerging infectious diseases, and structure-based vaccine design strategies.
