Melissa became a fellow of Kellogg in 2009 when she was Director of Academic IT Services in Oxford University IT Services. She has since left Oxford and is currently Assistant Principal at University of Edinburgh. While at Kellogg she held office as Dean of Degrees, IT Fellow and Chamberlain. She remains a Visiting Fellow of Kellogg and Secretary of the Oxford University Society in Edinburgh.
Melissa is well known for her leadership in the areas of technology enhanced learning and use of IT for teaching in higher education. She is an often-invited speaker at educational technology events and has particular expertise in strategic alignment of technology initiatives with institutional missions for sustainable models and return on investment. In 2019 she was a member of the Centenary Commission on Adult Education.
