I am a neuroscientist with an MSc (2018) and PhD (2023) from University of Copenhagen in Denmark. My main research interest is the function of sleep. During my master’s, PhD and first postdoc, I worked on uncovering how sleep promotes brain cleaning via the glymphatic system. For this, I used a broad range of in vivo methods such as electrophysiological recordings, fiber photometry, SPECT imaging and miniscope imaging. In my current project, I am diving deeper into the biology of sleep by looking at how sleep micro-structure, and mainly the short awakenings that naturally occur during healthy sleep, may play a role in the restorative function of sleep. Additionally, I am interested in how cerebrospinal fluid may interact with sleep promoting or sleep inhibiting neuronal populations.
