The college’s Governing Body consists of the President and Official Governing Body Fellows. Its meetings are conducted according to GB standing orders. On taking up their fellowship, GB fellows agree to share the responsibilities for College Governance set out in the Memorandum for members of Governing Body.

Day-to-day business is handled at meetings of the College Officers, including the President, Vice-President, Senior Tutor, Dean and Secretary to Governing Body. A range of College committees reports to the Governing Body. There is an active Middle Common Room Committee run by graduate students, and the MCR President attends all Governing Body meetings.

Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech and expression are central tenets of learning and an important part of College and University life. The legal duty of UK universities to protect free speech is enshrined in legislation, placing duties on the governing body of a higher education provider to i) secure freedom of speech;
and ii) maintain a code of practice. In line with this legal duty, Kellogg College has adopted a Code of Practice on Freedom of Speech, which sets out the College’s values and expectations relating to freedom of speech and academic freedom and how these values and expectations are applied to College activities. The Code of Practice is kept under regular review by Governing Body and shall be updated, if required.

The College, in line with the University and other sectors, observes its statutory Prevent duty to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.

Harassment Prevention and Policies

Kellogg College does not tolerate any form of harassment or victimisation and expects all members of the College community, its visitors and contractors to treat each other with respect, courtesy and consideration. Kellogg College follows the University’s approach to preventing and responding to harassment and sexual misconduct involving students.
