Kellogg alumni Meeting Minds weekend 2023
Over 22 – 24 September, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kellogg alumni back to College for the annual Oxford alumni Meeting Minds Global weekend.
Our programme of events started with a delightful champagne reception on the Friday evening and continued into Saturday and Sunday with a series of fascinating talks by Kellogg members. The talks covered topics as diverse as the state of children’s surgery in global health, and the work of Christies Restitution Department, to cyber security and the economic experience of the medieval northeast. Recordings of our events will be available to view on the website soon.
On Saturday night we were delighted to welcome over 100 alumni to the annual Gaudy Dinner. The delicious three-course meal, prepared by Chef Jon and his team, began with a heartening and encouraging toast to the College by Alumni Seung Chong (MSc Taxation 2019), who touched on the immense pride he felt as a Kellogg alumnus. In her after-dinner speech, Kellogg Honorary Fellow Frances Corner OBE spoke of Kellogg as a modern, visionary Oxford College in, amongst other things, its championing of continuing education. The evening was finished with a dance party in The Hub, DJed by our very own DJ Axelle.
Sunday started with a delicious brunch in the Dining Hall and ended with an insightful talk by our guest speaker, Philip Mould OBE, art dealer, London gallery owner, art historian, writer and presented of the BBC’s Fake or Fortune. Philip discussed what is real and what is fake, motivation, and expectation – of both the fraudulent and the innocent – with Fellow Steven Parissien in front of a packed house.
Next year’s Oxford alumni Meeting Minds weekend will take place on 20 – 22 September 2024. We hope to see you there!
