Kellogg Alumnus Awarded Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering
Kellogg College is delighted to congratulate Alumnus Richard Hefford-Hobbs FREng on being elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The Fellowship marks Richard’s outstanding achievements and leadership across the engineering sector. Each year, only a select number of individuals are elected to the Fellowship, joining a distinguished community of innovators who have made a lasting impact on their profession.
Reflecting on the award, Richard said:
“I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from the Royal Academy of Engineering. This award reflects not just my efforts but the collaborative spirit of all those I have worked with throughout my career. Together, we push the frontiers of engineering to shape a better future for society.”
Richard’s career spans a wide range of roles across engineering, education and leadership. His work at Cambridge Precision, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers (where he served as Master), and Gallyon demonstrates his commitment to advancing both the academic and practical sides of the industry.
As a Fellow of the Academy, Richard will continue to support the next generation of engineers by championing innovation, ethical practice, diversity and inclusion within the profession. His ongoing contributions reflect the values shared by both Kellogg College and the Royal Academy – collaboration, excellence, and a drive to create meaningful change.
The Royal Academy of Engineering, of which King Charles III is Patron, brings together leaders from across engineering and technology to promote excellence and inspire progress for the benefit of society. Its mission, Engineering Better Lives, underscores the vital role engineers play in tackling global challenges and shaping a sustainable future.
