Carlos Vargas-Silva is an economist and Director of the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS). He is also Professor of Migration at the University of Oxford. His research interests include the economic impact of immigration on receiving countries and the link between migration and economic development in sending countries, with a special focus on the role of migrants’ remittances. Carlos has been a consultant in projects for many international agencies including the Asian Development Bank, European Union, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank and the United Nations.
