Dr Cristian Roman

Research Member of Common Room

Senior Research Associate

Oxford Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME)

PhD; MSc; MSc

Cristian is a Senior Research Associate in the Biomedical Signal Processing & m-Health group, led by Professor Lionel Tarassenko at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME). He has a background in Computer Science (MSc) and Broadband Networks (MSc), with a specialisation in scheduling algorithms applied to wireless vehicular networks (PhD).

His research interests centre around creating algorithms and wearable electronic monitoring systems. These systems serve two main purposes: predicting clinical deterioration in hospitalised patients and enabling self-management of chronic conditions, like hypertensive pregnancies, through home monitoring. To achieve these goals, the systems utilise mobile apps, incorporate automated decision-making capabilities, and leverage real-time machine learning techniques.
