Dr Eralp Demir

Post-Doctoral Researcher

Department of Engineering Science

PhD (RWTH Aachen University)

Eralp is a senior researcher with a research focus on the modelling mechanics of materials. He received his PhD degree from RWTH Aachen University and studied at various places including Carnegie Mellon University Mechanical Engineering, Max Planck Institute Duesseldorf, Cornell University Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Sabanci University Manufacturing Programme, and University of Bristol Solid Mechanics Research Group on different projects involving finite element modelling and crystal mechanics.

Eralp has research experience on developing in-house finite element codes or writing codes for user material subroutines in commercial finite element software (ex. Abaqus, MSC Marc). He is currently working together with scientists from UKAEA on modelling fusion energy materials using a crystal plasticity finite element framework and contributed to the development of OXFORD-UMAT which is publicly available at https://github.com/TarletonGroup/CrystalPlasticity in the Tarleton Research Group in Engineering Science at Oxford.
