Prof Jane Shaw

Principal of Harris Manchester College

Jane Shaw is Principal of Harris Manchester College (for mature undergraduate and graduate students), Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Professor of the History of Religion in the University of Oxford.  Before returning to Oxford in 2018 to take up these posts, she was Professor of Religious Studies and Dean for Religious Life at Stanford University, and before that Dean of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Prior to that she taught at the University of Oxford for sixteen years. She is currently writing a book about spirituality and religion in the early twentieth century, and is also part of an interdisciplinary research team studying the iGeneration (18 – 22 year olds), their values and use of technology. She is a member of the Stanford University Libraries Advisory Board, and a trustee of Sarum College.

At Kellogg College she organises the annual Vincent Strudwick Lecture on Religion and Public Life.
