Postdoctoral Research Associate
Faculty of History
Julio is a postdoctoral research associate at the Oxford Martin Programme on Rethinking Natural Resources (ReSET). He is deeply passionate about understanding human-environment relationships and is thrilled to explore sustainable and equitable methods for extracting the resources needed for a Net Zero energy transition. For this postdoctoral project, he will conduct archival and ethnographic research on the island of Montserrat to examine how local communities engage with the Soufrière volcano and their perspectives on the equitable extraction of rare earth metals and geothermal energy. Understanding local perspectives and needs is crucial for ensuring that these activities benefit the community while also addressing the challenges of climate change.
