Mr Michael Wiener

Michael Wiener works in the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. He was also one of the experts who participated in the consultations that drafted the Camden Principles on Freedom of Expression and Equality. His research interests in international human rights law include freedom of religion or belief, freedom of expression, and the prohibition of any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence. In 2019, he and the co-authors Nazila Ghanea and Heiner Bielefeldt were awarded with the Premio Alberigo Senior Book Award for their international law commentary on “Freedom of Religion or Belief” (Oxford University Press, 2016). https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/news/2019-03-15-nazila-ghanea-awarded-alberigo-award
