Olena Seminog is a Senior Researcher in Policy and Practice Research Group in the Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI). She works on the global research prioritisation in infectious disease, pandemic preparedness, and global coordinated funding for infections with a pandemic potential. Olena leads the data stream of the Pandemic Analytical Capacity and Funding Tracking Programme (Pandemic PACT), which is the initiative to design a global public database and online dashboard to track research funding for infectious disease with a pandemic potential. This project aligns well with Olena’s interest in databases and data science, and her experience working in the area of Big Data.

Prior to joining PSI, Olena has worked in Big Data Institute at Oxford on electronic patient records. She did a DPhil in Nuffield Department of Population Health on the epidemiology of stroke in England using Big Data with Professor Michael Goldacre and Dr Peter Scarborough. Her work on stroke was featured on the national television, radio and newspapers. She has experience working with Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) and primary care data (CPRD).
