Prof Rebecca Lingwood

Rebecca Lingwood graduated from Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge and, after completing her PhD, was awarded a Maudslay Research Fellowship and then a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship in Cambridge.
She subsequently held a number of posts at Oxford, including at the Begbroke Science Park and the Oxford University Department of Continuing Education, before returning to Cambridge in 2009 to become Director of the Institute of Continuing Education and Warden of Madingley Hall. In September 2015, Rebecca became Vice-Principal (Student Experience, Teaching & Learning) and Professor of Fluid Dynamics at Queen Mary University of London. In August 2018, she joined Brunel University London as Provost and Professor of Fluid Dynamics.
From July 2024, Professor Lingwood will hold the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Lancaster University.
She researches laminar-turbulent transition of complex fluid flows, and is an Affiliated Professor at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, where her research group is based.
Rebecca was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng) in 2019, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS), and Principal Fellow of the HEA.
