Dr Shirin Tahzib

Director of Software Solutions, IT Services
Dr Shirin Tahzib is the Director of Software Solutions in the IT Services department of UAS and is responsible for the design and development of the University’s enterprise software applications. She joined the University in October 2011.
Immediately prior to joining the University, Shirin was the Global System Development director at the Transport and Logistics company TNT, where she was responsible for developing TNT’s global Operational, Financial, Sales and Customer Services IT Systems. Prior to joining TNT she worked at National Grid with responsibility for delivery of IT services to all the Corporate functions, Shared Services and 15 subsidiary companies of National Grid and Crown Castle International. She has more than ten years of global experience, having directed large multi-national teams in dispersed location around the world.
Shirin has a BSc in Computer Systems Engineering from Warwick University and a PhD in Data model Integration. As a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science Shirin has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She also led the Data and Knowledge Engineering Research Group leading to journal publications, and was the Director of Studies of various PhD and Masters projects in Systems Integration.
Shirin is Persian and left Iran 40 years ago and has studied and worked in the UK. Her mother tongue is Farsi. She is married and has two sons.
