Dr Stephen Attwood
Research Member of Common Room
Postdoctoral Researcher
Department of Biology
I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biology (formerly the Department of Zoology) with Prof Oliver Pybus, since Summer 2019. My research involves using genetic variation to infer time and place of origins of outbreaks (or populations), growth trends, and to predict emergence and courses of disease. My current focus is on cancer and, most recently, virus epidemiology.
I also work for Public Health Wales (on COVID-19) and, prior to a career change, I was a parasitologist interested in liver flukes at the Natural History Museum in London. I have led many field expeditions in Cambodia, China, Laos and across Asia.
