Anita Bharucha is the Chief Operating Officer of the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, within the School of Geography and the Environment.

She is a former chair of the Police and National Crime Agency Remuneration Review Bodies and a former board member of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, where she chaired the Audit and Governance Committee.

Anita helped to establish the Oxford India Centre and the Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Programme at Somerville College.

Prior to moving to Oxford, Anita was a senior civil servant and served in a number of Departments, including the Home Office, Cabinet Office, Northern Ireland Office and the Ministry of Justice, advising Ministers on policy.

Anita read Classics at Cambridge University.
